“I can’t believe I ate the whole thing” Detox Juice

Overdid things a bit last night? This refreshing and detoxifying juice will reboot your system and leave you feeling clean and light. The celery flushes toxins from the body and is a natural diuretic. Carrot is a natural liver cleanser and stimulates digestion, as do the lettuce and spinach. Add a little fresh ginger for some zip and sip throughout the day to get your body back on track.

Green Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 3 celery stalks, chopped
  • 2 cups of spinach OR 2 cups of lettuce
  • 1 cup of fresh parsley
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1-2 cups of filtered water or coconut water/juice

Directions

Place all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend for one minute. Pour through a fine sieve into a large pitcher or bowl, pushing the fibers with a large spoon to remove all liquid. Return liquid to blender, add ice, and blend for another 15 seconds. Drink immediately and enjoy throughout the day.

Other detoxifying ingredients include:  cucumber, watercress, cabbage, beets, and apples. Play with these ingredients and make your own potion!

    I didn’t have all the ingredients to make this, but I picked and chose ingredients from the “detoxifying ingredients” list because my stomach was bothering me on Saturday and I had some acid indigestion for the first time in 6 months (which used to be a regular, daily problem for me). I thought I took it easy, after eating raw for 30 days, but apparently not easy enough!

    I have to admit, it wasn’t exactly the tastiest smoothie I’ve ever had (at all…), but my stomach felt better and the acid indigestion was gone pretty much immediately after I drank it. I just love how these little miracles grow right out of the ground. :)
